Frequently Asked
Questions
How much does reupholstery cost?
Every job is different — the cost depends on the size and construction of the piece, the fabric or leather you choose, and how much work the frame and padding need underneath. That's why we start with a free in-home consultation rather than a number over the phone. You'll have a firm quote before anything is committed.
Is reupholstering cheaper than buying new?
Compared to buying an equivalent quality piece, usually yes — and you keep a frame that's often better made than what's available new. Compared to a budget flat-pack replacement, no. What you get for the money is a bespoke piece in exactly the fabric you want, built on a frame you already know is comfortable.
Is my furniture worth reupholstering?
This is the most important question, and we'll give you a straight answer. A solid, well-made frame is worth reupholstering almost every time. A piece that's structurally past it isn't, no matter how much you like it. Sometimes the best advice we can give is not to go ahead — we'd rather tell you that at the consultation than take the job.
What happens at the free in-home consultation?
We come to you, look at the piece properly, and talk through what you're hoping to achieve. We'll assess the frame and padding, show you fabric and leather options, and talk through the possibilities. You'll get a clear quote and no obligation to proceed.
How long does reupholstery take?
It depends on the size of the piece and the fabric lead time from our suppliers. We'll give you a realistic timeframe at the consultation, once we know what's involved.
Can I supply my own fabric?
Yes. If you've found something you love, bring it to us. We'll check it's suitable for upholstery use and let you know how much you'll need before you buy.
Do you take the furniture away, or is it done in my home?
Reupholstery is workshop work — we'll collect the piece and return it once it's finished. We'll confirm collection and delivery timings with you when you book.
Can you change the style, not just the fabric?
Often, yes. Cushion shape, arm detailing, leg style and back construction can all be altered. Tell us what you have in mind at the consultation and we'll let you know what's achievable on your particular frame.
Do you reupholster dining chairs and smaller pieces?
Yes — dining chairs, ottomans, headboards, window seats and bench seating. If it's upholstered, get in touch.
Do you take on commercial work?
Yes. We work with commercial and B2B clients as well as residential. Get in touch with the details and we'll let you know how we can help.
Not Sure What Your Furniture Needs?
Send us a photo and we'll tell you honestly — including if we think the work isn't worth doing. Free quotes, no obligation.
